Hi there!
A few months ago, a key employee announced she was leaving our firm. I won’t deny it was a massive blow to our business. Her resignation shook the partners to their core.
But I never worried.
You see, I've been there before. My career has imploded several times. Too many times.
Let's take a brief glance back in time.
In 1994, my thriving business lost all its clients overnight.
In 1995, bipolar leveled me. After a hospital stay, I could not work for months.
In 1998, I left a well-paying job to make room for my boss' new daughter-in-law.
In 2006, the state office of my insurance company closed my office with no warning.
In 2010, I fled a job from a boss determined to harm my family.
In 2018, one man's poor decisions forced me to leave the company to protect the integrity of my name in the community.
“Survival can be summed up in three words – never give up. That’s the heart of it really. Just keep trying.”
- Bear Grylls

You Can Survive Almost Anything
Wow, it's more painful than I thought to see it all in black and white.
Yet, every end led to new beginnings. If a new shake up means another job is ending, I know I'll be okay. I've faced worse and survived every trial thrown at me. I will conquer this, too.
Why? Because I never give up. And I’m not about to stop now.
I know it sounds cliché, but it's the truth. When things got tough, I kept fighting. When people told me I couldn't do it, I proved them wrong. And when the odds were stacked against me, I found a way to win.
You have it in you to do the same.
You Are Powerful
If you're reading this, then you probably need some inspiration.
You might be feeling down, like the world is putting more weight on you than you can carry, or like giving up is your only option. You are not alone in feeling this way, and more importantly, you should never give up.
Never.
No matter what happens in life, never quit.
Never let someone else control your destiny. Never give in to the negative voice in your head telling you that you can't do it.
I'm living proof that if you keep fighting, good things will find you.
I'm not the smartest person in the world and definitely not the most talented. And the good Lord knows, I certainly don't have all the answers. But what I do have is determination and resilience.
Like Tigger, I bounce well. You can learn to do the same.
Just Bounce
What would I say is my biggest key to success over past challenges? Hope.
Every time a job ended, I held onto hope. I believed better times would come again, and they always did.
If you're feeling lost, or like giving up, let today be the day you turn the corner.
Start fighting again and look for the opportunities in your life. You never know where the next door may lead. The only way to find out is to keep going, no matter how tough things get.
Choosing to continue to fight is always the right answer. Believe tomorrow will be better and you’ll see it come true.
What do you have to lose? Go out there and live your dream. Success may be closer than you think.
How have you kept going when life threw you a curveball? Please share your story as a response.
Journal Prompt: Remember a time when your life took a sudden and unexpected turn. How did you get through it? What did it teach you about yourself?
Creative Writing Prompt: Write a story about a family invited to live on the International Space Station. What happens in their first few days there?
Until next time, keep fighting.
