Thursday’s Journal Prompt: Reflect on a time you were there for a friend in need. Describe the situation, how you responded, and how it made your friend feel. Then, compare that to how you treat yourself when you are struggling. Are you as kind and supportive to yourself as you are to others? Why or why not?

Hi there!

Imagine you're walking to get your mail one afternoon. Out in front of your house, distracted by the neighborhood dog running up the street, you fail to notice the garden hose strung across your path. Your foot tangles in the green tubing and you tumble to the ground. How long will you stay there?

That probably seems like a silly question. Of course, unless you were seriously injured, you would jump up immediately. Then, if you're like me, you would quickly spin around and make sure no one saw you.

No one likes to stay on the ground after a trip. But with a metaphorical fall, what do you do? Are you tempted to stay down then?
