Hi there!
Trees make me happy. I can’t say why, but they do.
The older or more gnarled a tree, the deeper it warms my heart.
Trees understand facing adversity. They stand tall against rain, sleet, snow, and hurricane winds.
I think of all creation, trees would best understand life with mental illness. They know what it’s like to be rooted in place and how to face circumstances beyond their control.
Let’s look at five ways you’re like a tree and how they can encourage you to maintain a positive mindset.
“In October, a maple tree before your window lights up your room like a great lamp. Even on cloudy days, its presence helps to dispel the gloom.”
- John Burroughs

How You’re Like a Tree
1. Trials
The first way you resemble a tree is you both face hard trials. Trees fight everything from raging wildfires to category five storm winds. And most of the time, they live to tell the tale, some for thousands of years. One tree in Chile is thought to be more than 5,000 years old.
Maybe you won’t live as long as a tree, but you can stand tall like one. Think about what troubles you’ve faced in the past, and yet you’re still here, just like a tree.
