Hi there!
It was the first time I went to visit my friend Barrett in New England.
We both love nature and trees, so Barrett drove us to a nearby state park with a high overlook where we could enjoy the sprawling green below us.
After two hours of hiking, we were heading back to Barrett’s truck when we heard the unmistakable sound of twigs breaking under heavy steps. Not fifteen feet away, a mama brown bear blocked our path.
I froze, my heart racing like Seabiscuit, and felt unable to move.
While Barrett will tell you I stepped behind him, offering my friend up as a tasty morsel to the hungry bear, the truth is I didn’t move. Not an inch. I don’t think I even took a breath.
