How To Live in the Present Moment With Bipolar Disorder
Flying through the air taught me to embrace every moment.

After the two young men strapped us into our yellow harnesses, a thick steel cable slowly hoisted my friend Peter and me up to another platform 150 feet above where we started.
My heart raced like Kyle Larson at an All-Star Race. Peter and I hung face down, watching the crowd below us grow smaller and smaller.
Before long, we reached the platform and two slightly older men checked out harnesses and connections.
“Everything good?” one of them asked.
“We’re good,” Peter laughed, unable to control his reaction to the utter panic shining on my face. Peter was a cool cucumber, and I was teetering on the edge of a stroke.
I didn’t have a second to say or think anything.
“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.”

In a flash, we were dropping, swooping toward the platform we started on and then up and over the crowd on the other side of the attraction.
For those few seconds, nothing existed outside of that moment. All my senses fully engaged, and I felt the harness tugging at my chest, keeping me safe. My eyes scanned the dozens of people watching us, all with smiles on their faces.
