Hi there!
Do you ever feel lost? Lord knows, I do. Quite often.
During those uncertain times, it can be tough to see a way forward. You might feel like you're stuck in a cycle of pain and misery that seems impossible to break.
Change feels impossible when things feel bleak, but you can do it. All it takes is a bit of courage and the willingness to accept yourself for who you are.
I know it’s possible because I've been there myself.
A few years ago, I was in a horrible place. I was struggling with my mental health, and I felt like everything in the world was against me. I was angry all the time and felt powerless to make things better.
Then something changed. I realized that the only person who could change my life was me. So I started to make some changes, both big and small.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves.”
- Viktor E. Frankl
Starting a New Path
I started a new journey by accepting myself for who I am. In fact, I’m dedicating all of 2025 to learning to accept myself even more.
Acceptance is hard. We live in a world that tells us we need to be perfect. Social media slams other’s ideas of perfection down our throats, making us feel we have to always look and act our best.
It’s hard for everyone to go against this societal grain, but it’s especially tough to accept when you're dealing with a mental illness like bipolar disorder.
I struggled with putting on the perfect mask for a long time. Then I realized my bipolar disorder is a part of who I am. Mental illness is messy and causes bad days. It’s okay to accept those imperfections and let the world see them.
When I learned to accept the bad days, I started to make changes in my life. I began to make better decisions on the easier days. Healthy habits, such as exercising more and eating better, became less burdensome when I gave myself permission to shut down on the bad days.
Your goal today is to make a plan to accept your need for down time. Think of a nice activity, like reading a book or watching a movie, you can do the next time you need to rest.
(Paid subscribers) Tomorrow, we’ll go further down the acceptance road by talking about the value of time.
Monday’s Journal Prompt: What step can you take today to start changing your life? Baby steps count, so pick a direction and get started.
Until next time, keep fighting.

I'm so sorry to hear you've been having a rough time, but I'm glad things are improving. This illness sucks and sometimes all we can do is shut down and heal. Let me know if there's any way I can support you.
Great article as always my friend!
I've been struggling lately with the longest & darkest depression cycle I've had in years, but luckily out the other end now.
This article resonates with me, as keen on rediscovering my authentic self and remembering the issues I have with acceptance.
