Exercise That’s Better Than a Treadmill
Why green exercise is the best multitasker for your health.| Nature Heals Week (4 of 7)

Hi there, friend.
We all know that exercise is good for mental health. But exercise in nature is like a superpower.
A treadmill is effectively a hamster wheel. It is static, repetitive, and indoors. But a trail through the woods or a walking path at a local park? That is dynamic.
You have uneven ground that engages your stabilizer muscles. You have changing views, fresh air, and unpredictable sights like a squirrel running up a tree. It engages your brain in a completely different, healthier way.
Don’t worry about burning calories or getting your heart rate to a specific zone today. Just move your body through a green space. Treat it like an exploration, and forget the workout.
Journal Prompt
If you absolutely had to move your body outside today, what is the gentlest, most enjoyable activity you could choose? (e.g., swinging on a park swing, walking the dog).
Until next time, keep fighting.

Even though we have a treadmill, I can’t stand using it. I’d much rather walk outside.
