A Forgotten Item from the Past Turns Out to be the Key to a Better Life
How your history can help you start living again today.
Hi there!
It was a dusty old box that had been sitting in the attic for years.
John forgot it was even up there, but when he opened it up, he found something inside that would change his life forever.
In the box was a red-leather-covered photo album from John’s childhood, and looking through the faded pictures reminded him of what mattered in life.
John browsed pictures from the time he and his friends decided to present their own parade. The young boys decorated their bikes with tree branches, cattails, and wildflowers.
He saw pictures where he was sitting on his grandparents’ back porch, a face full of smiles, surrounded by cousins he’d long forgotten.
Another photo showed John and three of his high school buddies standing in front of his first car, a beater that burned more oil than gas. The girl he should have married stood quietly on the other side of the car.
John paused for a moment to relive the moment.
He failed to recognize how much the girl meant to him until a car accident took her away a few years after the picture was taken.
"God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December."
