Hi there!
My boss was off on a tirade before he even flipped on the lights in his office.
Something set him off before he arrived, and we were all going to pay for the resulting mood. It was Monday, my least favorite day of the week, and he was going to make sure it was an unpleasant one.
Mondays are the bullies of the week.
They smack you in the face like a glass of ice water flung at you. It’s a stark reminder that the peace of the weekend is over and it’s time to return to the grindstone.
Mondays are inevitable. They come every week, every seven days, and there’s no stopping them. The unwelcome day is a part of life we must learn to accept.
“Mondays are the worst days of any given week. They’re the passive-aggressive uncles reeking of tequila as they debunk Santa Claus before passing out face first in the stuffing.”

Bad Days With Mental Illness
Just like Mondays, bad days happen a with mental illness.
At times, it’s jarring like a slap in the face, sudden and painful. Other times it comes in gradually, like black fog rolling in. No matter how it descends, tough days will come. It’s part of having bipolar disorder.
You know how to lessen the impact of Mondays.
Maybe you get your clothes ready the night before, pack a lunch ahead of time, or make sure there’s gas in the car. A small amount of preparation can increase your odds of having a better Monday.
The same is possible with mental illness.
By taking action on the better days, you can face the toughest days with more strength. Little things, such as taking your meds, getting enough rest, and practicing gratitude, make you better prepared for the unwelcome friend.
Practicing positivity also helps.
If you spend as much time as you can in a positive mindset, then it’s easier to get back there when life knocks you down.
Mondays will come and so will bad mental health days, but both are conquerable. Prepare in advance, and you’ll be ready for whatever hits you.

Writing Prompts
Grab your notebook and use these prompts to think a little deeper about the tougher days.
Journal Prompt: What was the toughest Monday you ever faced? How did you overcome it? What did the experience teach you?
Creative Writing Prompt: In a flash of genius, the government eliminates the days of the week. Every day will now be the same. Days will only be marked by a number. Everyone will work the same shift every day. Write a story about a day of life in that world. Does anyone rebel against it? What do they do?
Until next time, keep fighting.
